PACE UK

The Employability Challenge

As a student, the prospect of securing a job in the current climate is an extremely daunting one. The reality is that the current job market has never had to endure a crisis like this. Some forecasts predict that by the end of 2020, there will be in excess of 650,000 additional young people unemployed in the UK alone.

The application process is the first and possibly most challenging hurdle in securing work. It is here where you have to stand out from thousands of applicants, not just those with academic qualifications, but also individuals with industry experience, who have lost their jobs and will be looking to take entry level roles.

Most employers will use merit based selection to shortlist individuals, ensuring that they get the best candidates progressing to the next stage of selection and in the current climate, it is definitely the employer who is spoilt for choice when it comes to recruiting for any given role.

The Employability Solution

PACE is a programme designed to give students a good understanding of their employability attributes and how these may be developed. It also provides them with an insight into different types of job interview. Led by HR industry experts with extensive experience recruiting in both the public and private sectors, PACE gives students the tools they need to be ‘assessment centre ready’.

The PACE team at HR in One are specialist interviewers who come from a variety of recruitment backgrounds, including:
  • Law Enforcement
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Finance/Accountancy/Banking
  • Aviation/Travel/Tourism Education
  • Media/Technology
  • Construction/Engineering/Design
  • Health and Social Care
  • Human Resources
  • Cyber Security
  • Home Office
  • MOD
  • MOJ
  • HM Treasury
  • BEIS
  • Utilities

Get Interview Ready with PACE

PACE is about being prepared. We offer tailored assessment centre simulations to practice interviewing, presentation, and group discussion skills. Our team are made up of qualified and experienced interviewers. We give students the opportunity to experience the assessment process from both the candidate and interviewer perspectives, not just telling them what to say and how to say it, but giving them an understanding of how an interviewer might interpret their verbal and non verbal communication.

The PACE programme, coupled with our team's extensive assessment experience, is designed to encourage students, allowing them to showcase their skills confidently, giving them the edge in an increasingly competitive job market.

COVID-19 Update
During these challenging times and in line with government regulations, PACE will currently be delivered through virtual development centres, using Microsoft Teams and Zoom, fully preparing students for the digital assessment centre world.
