FYI Schools

Career Choices

For a young person, High School, in the post COVID-19 climate may seem worrying and extremely daunting.  However, with growing opportunities in the technology, health care, and engineering sectors, the need for effective career guidance is greater than ever.

We often hear the term skills gaps. What is this? How does it impact the next generation and why is it relevant? We believe that by  understanding a young persons interest and passion early on, seeing what motivates and drives them, we can help them realise their potential and help them on their path to what  they want to achieve. Early intervention is key to guiding each young person and helping them to make informed decisions about their future preferences; towards the end of Year 9 and beyond.

Effective career guidance will empower young people of the future! By working in partnership with Local Education Authorities,  teachers and employers can infuse career aspects into the curriculum.  We offer our services to match individual needs.  We are flexible, and deliver our services through a number of ways, school drop in sessions, face-to-face, online presence, training and phone services, ensuring this becomes accessible to all thus forming a regular part of education through those important years.

Follow your  Interest (FYI)

FYI for Schools is a programme designed to give young people a good understanding of their attributes and  how they may be developed. It also provides them with an insight into different types of industries. Led by FYI Mentors who are HR industry experts with extensive experience recruiting in both the public and private sectors.
FYI allows young people to participate in age appropriate activities so they can explore and identify their strengths to unlock their true potential. Activities ranging from team exercises to individual presentations, Q&A sessions on "What they want to become'? Be it space exploration to saving lives.

These activities form the foundation where by FYI Mentors ask a series of questions to help identify a young persons interests, what motivates them and what they most enjoy doing.

The skills assessment that we undertake is presented in a report format, which highlights a young persons strengths and areas of potential career interest. Also helping them to make informed decisions about their future GCSE options towards the end of Year 9.

For more information about the FYI programme please do not hesitate to contact us using our online form or email FYI@hr-in1.co.uk.

"You will teach them to fly, but they will not fly your flight.

You will teach them to dream, but they will not dream your dream.

You will teach them to live, but they will not live your life.

Nevertheless, in every flight, in every life, in every dream,

the print of the way you taught them will remain."
